The unemployment rates for both Pitt County and the Greenville Metropolitan Statistical Area jumped to 7.8 percent, according to the Employment Security Commission of North Carolina, up from 7.2 percent in October.

It is the county's highest rate since July, when unemployment reached 7.9 percent.
