Proxy test takers sound like something out of a teen movie, but they’re real alright.
And that’s why Cisco Systems, the biggest computer network, collaborated with Pearson VUE, one of the world’s largest test administrators, to create an anti-cheating system to catch those who pretend to be someone they’re not when taking job certification tests. These tests prove to employers that employees are maintaining their skills.
The challenge is that both companies told the Boston Globe that when administering these exams internationally, they discovered that for about one in 200 of the exams the job applicant was not really who they said they were.
To combat this, Cisco began applying new software that analyzes “data forensics” and includes candidate photos and authentication codes imprinted on score reports. This will allow employers to match exam results with potential new hires.
The new procedures will take effect on August 1.
