The Company Manpower Inc. issued a survey which shows that certain white- and blue-collar jobs are very stable in a troubled economy. Jennifer Merrit, career editor for the Wall Street Journal, expects that the average wage for entry-level positions in the white-collar bracket stands between forty and sixty thousand dollars a year.
The top five white-collar positions listed were
engineers, technicians,
sales reps,
accountants, and
IT staff. The top five blue-collar positions listed were machinists, machine operators, skilled workers, mechanics, and laborers/production operators.
For a large percentage of blue-collar work vocational schools can be the best preparation for valuable positions. The wage for these positions at entry level can range from $12-20 per hour.
