On EmploymentCrossing
A recent report released by Politico.com states that early last month, not too long after Sarah Palin was chosen to be Republican Presidential candidate, John McCain’s running mate, expenditures on clothes and accessories for Palin and her family rose dramatically.
The report states that the Republican National Committee has spent more than $150,000 dollars on the Palin family in an effort to create a sharper image.
Politico Chief Political Writer, Mike Allen, commented on the spending saying that in tough economic times, such action will stick in the minds of voters. He went on to say that with our countries’ many economic difficulties, now is not the time for extravagant spending.
Late on Tuesday night, the Republican campaign released a statement mildly chastising the intense focus put on the campaigns ‘clothing expenditures.’ The statement went on to discuss our need to focus on real economic issues during this time, instead of “pantsuits and blouses.”
Members of the Republican Campaign also claimed that it has been their intent to donate the clothing to various charities at the conclusion of the campaign.
