The company announced that it would expand a facility in Florence to a "state-of-the-art" distribution center, creating 200 new jobs for the town of 31,000.

QVC, based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has announced it will eliminate 900 jobs over the next 14 months.

The net reduction of about 700 jobs is 5.8% of QVC's domestic work force.

QVC says the cost-cutting measures will lower its 2009 operating costs by $30 million.

Founded in 1986, QVC broadcasts in four nations to an audience of 141 million consumers.
