Richard Wobbekind, an associate dean of the Leeds School of Business, prediction that the state of Colorado will lose 4,000 jobs in 2009. Wobbekind made his prediction at the 44th annual Business Economic Outlook Forum.
According to a Colorado University press release, Wobbekind has organized the forum since the late 1980s and has characterized the current recession as the worst the nation has seen in that time.
Wobbekind expects Colorado to lose 4,000 jobs overall in 2009. That may not seem like a large number considering the current economic state, but this is in the context of Colorado having very few recent years with reported job loss, Wobbe kind said.
Colorado may begin a recovery in the third quarter of 2009, when a “mild recovery” is predicted to occur nationally.
