According to a report from the Washington Employment Security Department, Clark County's unemployed residents who are looking for work has risen from an estimated 18,250 last month, up 1,880 from October.

The number of out of work individuals in Clark County has increased by 7,130 people from this time last year as local construction, manufacturing, and retail employers continue to cut jobs.

State regional labor analyst Scott Bailey expects the county's employment situation to worsen during the beginning of 2009 as well.

The county’s employment situation is expected to worsen during the first several months of 2009 before any recovery might occur later in the year, said Scott Bailey, a state regional labor analyst in Vancouver.
