The San Antonio job market expanded by 2,500 jobs in November, but unemployment has continued to rise in the Texas city, hitting 5.4 percent, according to Workforce Solutions Alamo.
Nonagricultural employment and retail and local government hiring surges in the metropolitan statistical area account for most of the increase.
Losses in the area were in leisure and hospitality, and the construction and manufacturing sectors.
Texas’ seasonably adjusted unemployment rate rose to 5.7 percent in November, up from 5.6 percent in October and 4.2 percent in November 2007.
