Certified Nurse Aide Jobs

Certified nurse aides work as a lead worker over nurse aides. They are proficient in leading and guiding nurse aides in the performance of their duties. Certified nurse aides ensure that resident quarters are in a clean and orderly condition and also that work involving direct patient contact is performed in accordance with prescribed methods, techniques, and procedures.

A certified nurse aide perform a host of resident care duties under the supervision of a Charge Nurse that include: changing, feeding, and bathing residents; attending to other personal and grooming needs; assisting residents to move within the premise; taking temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration; turning and positioning bed patients according to turning schedules; removing or releasing restraints as scheduled; keeping module cards on specific residents while on duty; noting any unusual changes in resident's condition and reporting to nurse; keeping linen and utility area clean and in order; and recording data on BM sheet, weight sheet, and Nurse Aide flow sheet.

Certified nurse aides have good knowledge of: basic nursing techniques; healthcare, sanitation, and hygiene; and safety and accident prevention. Some knowledge on anatomy, physiology, and training techniques is also required.

Certified nurse aides are able to: comprehend and apply nursing assistant training; display leadership abilities; keep comprehensive records; read and interpret documents such as safety rules; speak effectively before groups; add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure; solve practical problems; interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
