Publications Jobs

The primary responsibility of a publications job holder is to plan, produce and write internal and external publications and communications of the company which may include magazines, journals, brochures, promotional print materials etc. A publications job is generally available with universities, research foundations and private companies.

A publications job involves executing all aspects of publication production, including supervising a staff of writers, photographers, designers, freelance staff etc. The publications specialist may also write content for the company or university website and provide support in web page design and maintenance. Other duties include developing ideas and content outlines, coordinating with other departments, overseeing photo shoots for publication and executing and managing publication budgets.

The minimum educational qualification required for a publications job is a bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications or a closely related field, from an accredited college. Excellent writing, computer (internet, web designing, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc), communication, editing and interpersonal skills are also important.
