A retail store manager is responsible for the daily operations being carried out in a retail establishment and also for hiring and maintenance of personnel. Skilled at employee training and ensuring that the employees work efficiently, a retail store manager maintains a meticulous record of day to day sales. It is the duty of a retail store manager to ensure that the employees are paid in time. Product management is yet another responsibility of a retail store manager, this includes ordering and receiving of goods, negotiating prices and their payments, handling of damaged goods and returning them, as well as keeping an account of expiry dated goods and their timely disposal.
A retail store manager should have a bachelor’s degree along with prior experience in a retail outlet. A retail store manager should possess good communication and convincing skills as continuous interaction with employees and customers is required. Ensuring that customers are catered to satisfactorily by the store employees is an important duty of a retail store manager.
