Internship Healthcare Jobs

A healthcare intern is responsible for scheduling a doctor’s appointments and taking care of other support services including interpretation and transportation, registering clients for Medicaid, obtaining required prescriptions for clients, providing general administrative support, and accompanying clients to appointments. A healthcare intern has to assist the healthcare specialist in researching physicians, pediatricians and other specialists in order to expand the database of doctors available to clients. A healthcare intern is placed under the direct supervision of one or more experienced senior health practitioner, specialized in interns' respective, chosen medical field. A healthcare intern’s role can range from observational to basic assistance, depending upon intern’s personal skills/knowledge. A healthcare intern works with a senior doctor, spending time in various departments of an often-busy hospital. A healthcare intern assists in changing bandages, taking blood pressure and contributing to the education pertaining to basic prevention, within this particular internship placement.

A healthcare intern requires second-year, third-year, or fourth-year undergraduate or graduate degree in medical science. A healthcare intern should be able to perform job functions such as data analysis, report writing, or supervision of specific daily activities (insurance verification, scheduling). A healthcare intern should be able to work independently and in small groups. Excellent written and oral communication skills and basic knowledge of computer applications and internet is essential.
