Dental Office Jobs

The job of a dental officer is administrative and clerical in nature, but not without a hint of patient service. Typically, a dental officer oversees insurance claims and billing; conducts patient service needs; performs collections of outstanding bills; maintains inventory of medical supplies; and oversees compliance with established recordkeeping guidelines.

Dental office job openings include positions which involve advising on, administering, supervising, or performing professional and scientific work in the field of dentistry. These may be concerned with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases, injuries and deformities of the teeth, the jaws, organs of the mouth, and other structures and connective tissues associated with the oral cavity and the masticatory system.

In patient care, dental officers make patients as comfortable as possible in the dental chair, prepare them for treatment, and obtain dental records. Office duties of a dental officer may include: scheduling and confirming appointments; receiving patients; keeping treatment records; sending bills and receiving payments; and ordering supplies and materials.

Dental officers are required to have good manual dexterity, work well with others, and must be reliable.
