Chemist Jobs
A chemist’s key role is to seek out new knowledge about chemicals and to apply that knowledge in a myriad of settings. A chemist works in a laboratory where he or she is involved in either synthesizing or analyzing chemical compounds (such as pharmaceuticals, plastics, or minerals) coming from a factory, mine, or water system. A chemist is often involved in creating new compounds for use against diseases in humans, animals, and plants, and in creating new materials for use in new technologies like computers, cell phones, and space-age polymers. A chemist also prepares test solutions, compounds, and reagents for other laboratory personnel. A chemist analyzes organic and inorganic compounds to determine the chemical and physical properties, composition, structure, relationships, and reactions associated with those compounds, utilizing chromatography, spectroscopy, and spectrophotometer techniques. A chemist induces changes in the composition of substances by introducing heat, light, energy, and chemical catalysts for quantitative and qualitative analysis. A chemist also writes technical papers and reports and prepares standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products, and tests.Only EmploymentCrossing consolidates every job it can find in the domain and puts all of the job listings it locates in one place.
