Students graduating in 2008 are facing a tough job market, especially for those seeking jobs in education and finance. According to the director of strategic and foundation research for the National Association of Colleges and Employers, Edwin Koc, students can't be picky when looking for jobs nowadays.

"That may be pretty good advice," he says.

Sectors where students have a better chance at finding jobs include computer science and engineering.

A National Association of Colleges and Employers survey reported that employers had planned on hiring 16% more new graduates in 2008; however, because of the downturn in the economy, the percentage has been cut in half.

Because of this, Koc says, "I'd be very careful about rejecting an offer early on if I got one, and I might broaden my target areas."
