In Atlanta job cuts are coming — and they could total as many as 500 or more. The first cuts begin Thursday; however, as early as Tuesday night, several city shuttle bus drivers were told they would be laid off. Other sectors that will see cuts include solid waste, planning, judicial, Atlanta Police, Atlanta Fire, corrections, legal, human resources, procurement, and public works, according to 11Alive.com.

Gina Pagnotta, PACE Union president, said, "What I'm understanding is at least close to 500 people, maybe a little less, maybe a little more [will be let go]. Right now we're looking at a devastating work reduction."

Regarding the employees who will be cut, she added, "They should've been given at least 30 days let them know they may be potentially riffed. Their classification is riffed to give them the opportunity to make the right decision for them other than forcing them to accept what's given to them."
