Job Cuts Worsen in April
Today, Challenger, Gray & Christmas Inc. announced that firings for the month of April are up higher than they've been since September 2006. Everywhere, companies are trying to cut costs.
According to CEO John A. Challenger, "employers will definitely be slow to hire in the coming months as the economy remains unbalanced."
The sector to have the most job cuts? Finance, with a total of 23,106. Other sectors that have cut large numbers of jobs include telecommunications, with 8,007, and transportation, with 7,954.
