Jobs: Hiring and unemployment held steady
Heading into the end of the year, the economy is showing only a slight overall raise in employment rates. Through the end of December, the country is holding steady at 4.8 million. Most of the growth came from the private sector. Government employers culled 13,000 workers. An unlikely boost to the construction industry came from the rebuilding necessary post-Sandy. Other increases were seen in health services, food and drink, and manufacturing. Overall, there is not enough upwards movement to indicate that we as a country are fully on the road to recovery.
