Inaction on Sandy by Congress leaves businesses in limbo
Small businesses were left behind in the wave of assistance passed by Congress on Friday. The $9 billion initially approved does not begin to cover the devastation faced by the more than 200,000 businesses impacted by the storm. Local owners are sounding off about the struggle to get their insurance companies to consider the matter. Meanwhile, the Small Business Administration is trying to gather the funds necessary to assist owners with disaster-recovery loans. More and more businesses are facing the tough decision to temporarily close their doors, or move elsewhere.
