Epic Cache Database Administrator (DBA)
We are seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Epic Cache Database Administrator. This candidate will be part of the team responsible for implementation and ongoing support for the new Epic electronic medical record (EMR) being deployed across the corporation. This position will haveprimary responsibility for creating and maintaining Cache configuration, synchronization and maintenance of all application environments (test, training, development and production) for Epic applications.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for creating, maintaining, monitoring and ensuring the integrity of the Epic database.
Daily operational activities including backup, system monitoring, troubleshooting and database journaling activities and error logs.
Performance tuning, application and system upgrades, programming and enhancements.
Coordinate data migration and batch interfaces.
Perform environment copies/refreshes to support non-production environment activities.
Create and maintain user accounts and printers with the application as needed.
Participate in the implementation of new releases and software updates.
Assist in planning, testing and execution of strategies to minimize down times.
Experience with UNIX operating systems, preferably IBM AIX.
Identify and develop alerts for proactive monitoring and management.
Education and Work Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or other technical field required
3-5 years of database experience (Oracle, MSSQL, IntersystemsCache)
Hands-on experience in a 24x7 support environment, including tuning, load balancing of databases and applications, clustering, backups/restores, and troubleshooting
Excellent communication skills with all types of employees and management
Previous experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
Project management experience preferred
Experience with Epic EMR and/or other clinical applications preferred
Recent Epic Cache DBA Certification a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate. Epic Cache DBA certification is required within the first year of appointment to continue employment
