Grants/ Contracts Administrator - Contract Specialist
Candidate will administer and coordinate proposals and awards for research, training, and other sponsored activities for assigned University departments. Interacts with a broad array of sponsors from both federal and non-federal funding agencies and with faculty and administrative University staff. Provides guidance to faculty /administrators in application preparation. Reviews, interprets, and negotiates contract and grant terms and conditions to determine compliance and conformity and/or conflict with federal regulations and with sponsor and institutional policies and procedures. Coordinates contact with external funding sources, acting as the liaison between the agency and University community to obtain and process necessary pre- and post-award information. Reviews and processes various pre- and post-award activities like budget revisions, no-cost extensions, and/or requests for supplemental funding. Obtains sponsor approvals for major changes to project workscope. Transmits proposals and manages post award administration via various electronic systems. Gathers and submits closeout documentation. Ensures completeness and accuracy and coordinates any internal controls prior to the submission of documents to awarding agency. Coordinates inventions/patents reporting. Maintains records, keeping consistent and current. Duties include reviewing and negotiating Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs), Confidential Disclosure Agreement (CDAs), and Data Use Agreements (DUA) under the supervision of the Senior Contracts Manager. Will have responsibilities for a variety of tasks associated with grants and contracts management. Assists with other activities associated with proposals, awards, and subawards for research, training and other sponsored activities from federal and non-federal funding sources. Will have contact with individuals at companies and institutions regarding MTAs, CDAs and DUAs; the individual has contact with faculty and administrative staff at the University; and on occasions with staff of the federal government, non-federal sponsors and other organizations. Negotiates acceptable terms and conditions in accordance with the specific primary funding sponsors' provisions, University's policies applicable to sponsored projects, material transfer agreements, confidential disclosure agreements, and data use agreements; partner institution's/organization's input; input from the University's principal investigators, administrators and central administration under the supervision of the Grants and Contracts Manager. Maintains protocol information in AURA records as appropriate to the specific agreement needs. Maintains AURA record with fully executed agreements and other internal documentation. Performs routine grant and contract support duties, follow up for Grants and Contracts Managers regarding pre and post award activities as needed and assists with other activities associated with proposals and awards for research, training, and other sponsored activities from federal and non-federal funding sources. Gather and submit closeout documentation from unit and/or PI. Ensure completeness and accuracy; coordinate any internal controls prior to submission of documents to awarding agency and assists to close projects in the data system that have been approved for closing. Responds to routine requests from units of the University.
