Duties: Reports to the Senior Associate University Counsel – Litigation at the University System Office, responsible for hiring, termination, promotion and salary setting for this position. Responsible for providing a variety of professional legal services to the Litigation unit. Research and draft memos, pleadings, and briefs for administrative, state and federal court proceedings; Federal and state laws and regulations (in particular, those impacting institutions of higher education and health care providers). Discrimination issues. Health care and patient care issues. Laws of the Regents and University policies. Employment law issues. EEOC and civil rights issues. Faculty issues. Student issues. Participate in developing case strategy; Discovery; Attend depositions, settlement conferences, hearings and trials in a support role; Help develop in-house CLE presentations; Appellate research and drafting; and performs the above types of work, and other legal services, as assigned by the Senior Associate University Counsel.
