The Senior Data Network Administrator is accountable to the Manager, Enterprise Voice & Data Network Services, and is responsible for leading the strategic direction of HBC’s enterprise network, including technologies, protocols, and design, necessary to support HBC’s overall strategy. The Senior Data Network Administrator leads the overall architecture design of network services for all of HBC’s banners.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare for financial approval, business cases and capital requisitions to procure hardware, software, licenses, maintenance and professional services
• Evaluate the performance of HBC’s data network by utilizing available tools to monitor current capacity, analyze growth patterns and recommend solutions for remediation
• Develop and maintain strategies for Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery preparedness
• Liaise with HBC’s lines of business to understand their requirements, build networks that meet their needs and service level agreements
• Follow ITIL processes to manage change, releases, incidents & problems – with focus on ensuring high network availability and develop innovative solutions and maintain network monitoring and system performance tools, techniques, policies and procedures
• Configure, service and support all routing and switching equipment necessary for the delivery of network services
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree is preferred and CCNP and/or equivalent certifications are required
• 5 years’ experience with Cisco routers and switches with extensive knowledge and hands-on experience of LAN, WAN, and telecommunication equipment, understanding of all OSI layers from application to physical, knowledge of RIP, OSPF and BGP, and bandwidth utilization monitoring
• Enterprise experience in designing and engineering complex network solutions to achieve optimal scalability, redundancy, security, performance, and functionality
• 5 years of hands-on experience supporting/maintaining VPN, proxies, system hardening and security policies with extensive knowledge of security practices/technologies.
• Cisco certification and/or extensive experience in each of the following technologies would be considered an important asset; Cisco NAC ( CAS, CAM), Cisco VPN ( L2L, RAS), Cisco Wireless ( WCS, WLC, AP), Cisco Works ( ACS, TACACS , Radius), Cisco ASA Firewalls ( FWSM, ZBF), Cisco VoIP Cisco ACE, Cisco IDS, IPS, Cisco VSS, Cisco QoS, Cisco WAAS, WCCP, Cisco Nexus, Cisco IronPort / Ironmail, Cisco Tandberg Video Conferencing, MPLS Network ( VRF, BGP, OSPF ...), nGenius InfiniStream, NetScout Systems, Netscout Taps
• Familiarity with the following technologies would be considered an asset: Riverbed, Microsoft ( AD, DNS, WebProxy, ISA, OCS, LB, Syslog, ftp), Unix, Citrix CAG, SNA, Brocade, SAN, RSA and Qradar
