Blogging is increasing in popularity even though there are millions of blogs that exist today. There are several bloggers who have been able to quit their day jobs and earn a living just through blogging. This article is not going to claim to show you how to make millions or even thousands of dollars in blogging overnight. But you can learn the important first steps that you need to take to become a professional blogger.

First of all, you need to get your own domain name and web hosting. WordPress and Blogger are great blogging tools for beginners. But if you want to become a professional blogger, then you need to go to WordPress.org, download their free CMS and get a reliable web host. And if you are willing to spend some more money, buy a good theme instead of depending on free themes.

Now as any blogger will tell you, the money is in the list, the email list that is. There are tons of blogs, eBook offers and internet courses who promise you that they have the secret to grow your subscriber list overnight by over 100%. But most of the time, the gurus who are promising you the tricks to getting thousands of subscribers overnight have already squeezed dry all the techniques they are selling. If you want to be a successful copywriter then get your basics right and your subscribers will grow organically.

The best way to make your blog interesting to your visitors and get them to sign up to your email list is to write about topics that are interesting to them. This is possible only if you are knowledgeable about a particular topic and find it interesting. If you are choosing a particular topic only because you think there is a lot of money in that niche, then it’s going to be hard to be prolific writer. The idea is to produce lots of valuable content that your readers and subscribers look forward to when they visit your blog. Your blog and articles should help them in a concrete way. And since you are blogging, and not writing a college term paper, write as if you were speaking to your readers.

It is also important to have a clear monetization strategy for your blog. If you are planning to build a huge subscriber list, then plan what exactly you are going to offer them. If you are not planning to sell them eBooks or online courses, then how else are you going to monetize your blog? Most professional bloggers do not depend on Google AdSense to get their revenue. If having a money-making blog is your goal, then start looking into direct advertisements and affiliate marketing.

Once you have sorted out these issues, make sure your site is easy to navigate, comment and subscribe to for your email newsletters. Create accounts on all the social networking sites that are big right now, which means Twitter and Facebook accounts and link them to your site. Your readers should be able to share your great content with their friends easily and quickly. You also need to interact with your readers. Do this by replying to the comments that they leave on your blog.
Guest blogging is another great way to increase your visibility. Get in touch with the other bloggers in your niche and write a guest blog for them. You can also invite them to write a guest blog on your site. These are just some of the tips on how to start, build and sustain a blog that gets you a good audience.
If this article has helped you in some way, will you say thanks by sharing it through a share, like, a link, or an email to someone you think would appreciate the reference.
