Of the 166,000-job gain, Silvia said, "Clearly, the [number] overstates growth. When the final numbers finally come in, it will probably be closer to the 80,000 gain everyone was expecting."
Construction and lenders lost 5,000 workers in October, while those in the financial sector found a job gain of 2,000. The jobs with the strongest gains were in government, leisure, hospitality, and business and professional services.
