Writers Continue to Strike

Wanting more money when their work appears on different forms of media, including the Internet, podcasts, and cell phones, writers and producers continue to strike in Hollywood. The strike, which began earlier this month, is ''the worst Hollywood labor clash'' the city has seen in two decades, says News10Now.com. The last strike lasted five and a half months and cost the industry $500 million.

The deal to receive residuals, however, has stagnated. Both sides have discussed negotiations; however, conclusions have not been reached. And along with postponing popular TV shows and affecting late-night television hosts such as David Letterman, Jay Leno, and Jimmy Kimmel, the strike has also affected the "lower-paid positions that are needed for a production," says HoustonianOnline.com.

Workers who have been laid off because of the strike include but are not limited to cameramen, electricians, set decorators, caterers, and drivers.
