Wal-Mart: known as the world's largest retailer, Wal-Mart plans on adding approximately 220 new stores in the United States. According to spokesman John Simley, "With every new store, there are entry-level positions, and there are supervisor positions, management positions."
J.C. Penny: following the opening of 50 new stores in 2007, J.C Penny plans on hiring roughly 7,500 new employees in 2008. "In each one of the stores we'll be hiring — store managers and sales associates — a combination of hourly and salaried, part-time and full-time," said spokesman Tim Lyons.
CVS Caremark: while no specific number of new hires has been announced, drugstore chain CVS plans on hiring plenty of pharmacists for the new year, including specialty and retail pharmacists.
