"A lot of the opportunities we're coming across are in these knowledge-based industries," said Director of Talent Enhancement for SPARK Amy Cell. "In the Ann Arbor region, we are very fortunate to have a knowledge-based economy with a lot of smaller companies in these high-technology fields."
Much of the new growth in Ann Arbor comes from the departure of pharmaceutical company Pfizer Inc. To take advantage of Pfizer's 2,100 displaced workers, established companies are providing them with new jobs, while the $100 million investment was made to encourage the development of new companies.
