According to Lee Bainter, the president of the United Auto Workers, a union that represents 1,500 of the plant's workers, "At the plant level, we're working to minimize it. Obviously, we supply to most of the plants in the corporation, so it follows that when they have [slowdowns], we would too."
The plant, which makes torque converters and steering columns, has supplied parts for Chrysler since 1966.
