The News & Observer (N&O) Publishing Co plans on cutting as many as 16 advertising positions as the company prepares to move work overseas. "These kinds of decisions are never taken lightly," said N&O's senior vice president of advertising, Al Autry. "They are truly done to try to make us a stronger operation in the future." The company is working alongside Chicago-based Affinity Express, which is helping N&O create ads. This partnership "will allow faster turnaround of work and result in significant cost savings," said Autry. Those who will be fired will be offered severance packages, including healthcare benefits and pay.
