Over the next three years, pharmaceutical company Wyeth has ''tentative plans'' to cut up to 5,000 jobs. There's been no word yet on where in the company those job losses will begin; however, according to a spokesman, Wyeth will release more details in March.

The reported reasons for its potential job cuts are a "slowing drug pipeline, increased generic competition, and U.S. regulators' skittishness about improving new drugs," says Bizjournals.com. By cutting 5,000 jobs Wyeth would reduce its workforce by close to 10%.

Other companies like Wyeth which plan to cut jobs include GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, Bayer, Novartis, and AstraZeneca.
