Regarding the job cuts, Gateway spokeswoman Lisa Emard said, "Some of these positions are...no longer required due to the sale of our professional business to MPC."
To help those who have recently been laid off, the South Dakota Career Center in North Sioux City has prepared a "rapid response" meeting, so that its officials will be ready for the increase in visitors. Robin Mandermach, of the South Dakota Career Center, said, "We have services to provide them, such as job service assistants [and] updating resumes, if they need that. Hopefully people will utilize us, and we look forward to assisting in any way we can."
