According to a report by Advertising Age, media jobs sank to 886,900 jobs in December 2007, making 2007 a 15-year low for the media industry. The only two sub-fields in which job growth was visible were magazines (400 jobs) and Internet media companies (9,200 jobs).
However, marketing and advertising jobs broke a record in November with 769,000 jobs. Positions with the strongest growth in marketing include marketing consultancies, which added 14,500 jobs in 2007. Growth continues to look positive for jobs in digital initiatives, direct marketing, promotions, and events.
