Fiona Sigalla, an economist with the Federal Reserve Bank in Dallas, said, "These figures suggest slowing, which is what we expected."
And the chairman of the Texas Workforce Commission, Tom Pauken, said, "Texas has once again reached a prominent benchmark -- a more than 30-year record low for unemployment. Our falling unemployment, coupled with this month's significant job gains, indicates the sustained health and vitality of the Texas economy."
Indeed, in spite of the slowdown, Texas continues to have the nation's strongest job market.
