With Motorola's latest announcement of 2,600 job cuts, the company's total job losses since 2007 come to 10,000, with the company hoping to save $500 million from the cuts. The latest layoffs make up around 3.9% of its workforce.

According to a statement made by the cell phone company, "The workforce reductions are intended to make financial resources available for strategic business investment, while better aligning operational costs and expenses with business growth."

Of the 2,600 job cuts, 700 were cut after a decision to close a manufacturing office in Singapore, while 354 were cut from an office in Plantation, Florida.
