Your nails: They should be neat and well groomed. Long and uncut nails emit negative vibes. Women should avoid wild nail polish.
Jewelry: Should wear minimum jewelry. Wear just two rings on one hand and one ear ring on each ear. No face jewelry and ankle bracelets.
Shoes: Open toed or backless shoes should be avoided; mules not at all. Out-of-date footwear should not be worn.
Legs: Even in summer, you should put on stockings in neutral colors or fashion colors to suit your shoes.
Suits: Don't put on old fashioned suits having either too wide (three inches or more) or too narrow (one inch or less) lapels. Men's jackets must be tight ones.
Skirts: Avoid short skirts. Hemlines should not be over three inches above the knee. Capri pants or leggings are not for interviews.
Leather jackets: Leather jackets or even leather blazers should not be worn. This rule applies to both men and women.
Shirts: Don't go for turtlenecks. Wear at least a tie for the first round of the interview. If you don't like a tie, wear a collared shirt.
Hand bags and purses: Printed and trendy purses or handbags have to be avoided. They should be conservative and shouldn't invite too much attention.
Brief cases: Brief cases, purses and shoes should be conservative in color and in good condition. Shades of blue and grey are the best. Donning black could be considered very serious. When you wear black, soften the look by sporting another color near your face. Brown is not accepted as business color and it should be avoided. Choose a different dress for second interview.
Interviews are not meant for making a fashion statement. Those who are in the creative or design field or the famous can afford to be adventurous. Others should have conservative looks. Most companies prefer traditional professional dress.
Whatever you wear, you should look like a professional. You should bank on common sense. In one word you should look right for the job.
