It isn't an interrogation
Many job seekers think that an interview is an interrogation. It is interrogation when person asks all the questions and you answer them. It is wrong. An interview is nothing but a business conversation in which both interviewee and interviewer participate. People who expect to be interrogated don't ask any questions.
Turn weaknesses to your advantage
Often interviewers ask you, "What are your weaknesses?" Normally people say, "I am a perfectionist." But interviewers are not impressed because they might have heard the same answer umpteen times. If you are asked this question, underscore a skill that you wish to improve upon and explain your effort in that direction. Hiring managers aren't interested in your weaknesses. They are interested how you field the question and what does your answer reveals about you.
Failure to ask questions
All interviews end with the interviewer asking you, "Do you have any questions?" You will be committing a blunder if you say you don't have any. This indicates you are not interested in the job and you have not prepared well for the interview. Hiring managers are impressed with your probing questions. Before attending an interview, list five questions you want to ask in the interview. As all like to talk about themselves, you can draw the attention of the interviewer by asking him, "Can you tell me about your career?"
Not researching yourself
Every job seeker researches the company, but most interviewees don't research themselves. They don't even jot down their experience, knowledge and skills. List your accomplishments so that you can answer any question about your experience and skills. You must be ready to discuss your background. Your talent inventory refreshes your memory and prepares you well for responding to any question about your experience or accomplishment.
Keeping your cell phone on
Maybe we are living in a wired open society, but it is not appropriate if your cell phone rings in the midst of the interview. Put it in silent mode before you enter the interview room.
