Any professional today would have faced dozens of interviews and would often be reminded about the torturous and often embarrassing experiences of job interviews. What will you find about yourself if you could review your performance once again?

Listen and watch yourself

The biggest problem is verbal fillers. When gathering your thoughts or when you are nervous during an interview the best thing to do would be to remain silent. Nervousness leads to overtalking. Keeping your answers short and precise is the best thing to do. A good way of monitoring your performance is to tape a few mock interviews to get an insight into some of the smaller things like dressing, gestures and habits. This can help you understand and modify your body language during an interview.

Maintain a Conversation

A part of good presentation is carefully presenting the content that you want to convey to your interviewer. The key is to understand that an interview goes both ways to understand if there is a mutual fit. In most cases, the interviewer will dedicate two-thirds of the time to asking questions to the candidate while the candidate may ask questions to the interviewer for the rest of the time.

Create a list of a few talking points and ensure that you convey them carefully across. Have a list of questions ready that you may want to ask the interviewer about the organization and the position you are interviewing for. If you notice that the interviewer is asking you questions non-stop without a break, you may subtly suggest that there are a few questions that you would like to ask or would like to share with the interviewer. This will put the control back in your hands and will make the job of the interviewer easier.

Have A Story Ready

This is the point in your interview where you can dazzle your interview with a "story". Your story should not be about your business generation success or sales records. It is a story about who you are. Have your story ready before you even appear for the interview. Think about what excited you and motivated you during your career, things that you have done on an initiative of your own, things that keep you energized etc. Think about the career stories that will show your resourcefulness, initiative and passion to your interviewer.

Skip the Perfumes

Last, ensure that you leave behind a good impression. Although it has been said enough times before, it is important to stress it once again- skip your perfume. Quite a lot of individuals are very sensitive to scents and perfumes and if you manage to give your interviewer a headache you will definitely not be liked by him/her.
