Inaccuracies
- Missing or grossly inaccurate dates (ie: January 1986 - December 1889).
- Incorrect grammar and spelling errors.
- Falsifying or exaggerating information.
- Including a phone number that has been disconnected.
- Mailing crumpled, ripped or food stained resumes.
- Applying liquid paper (white out) to cover your errors.
- Printing a resume on brightly colored paper or with hard-to-read fonts.
- Using the closing statement, "References Available Upon Request."
- Writing reference information on your resume.
- Listing hobbies and personal statistics or using photos.
- Including salary information (if it's requested, save it for your cover letter).
- Making reference to your age, race, marital status, religion, health or political affiliations.
- Writing about every job you had since you were 16-years-old.
- Expressing negative or unimportant points.
- Allowing your resume to read like a book (paragraph format).
- Writing long, cumbersome sentences.
- Exercising personal pronouns such as
- "me and I."
- Using obscure abbreviations and acronyms.
- Writing "resume" on the top of your resume.
- Explaining the reasons why you were terminated from a job.
