What Not To Add:
There are a few personal details which should not be added for the resume:
- It’s a trend for many to add personal details like date of birth, nationality, and marital status to the resume. These are the additional details and are required in case of federal or state applications. While applying for some particular jobs, adding personal details like weight, clothing size and height becomes important. So, before you add these personal details to the resume, always look for the job requirements. If they are needed, then adding such personal details can really help you out, otherwise there is no need to add them as it is not important to the job objective.
- Sometime people may list their native language on the resume which suggests their nationality. So, the best practice is to add such language if it is applicable for the job requirements. In some cases, having knowledge about a second language can be beneficial. So, adding the same information to your resume is often considered as a valid thing.
- While preparing the resume, you should leave out the name of the institutions that suggests your religious affiliation or cultural background. You should add those experiences which will help in selling you as the most suitable candidate for the job.
- If you have any overseas work experience and gone through training, then you must add these details with your resume. But while adding these details, never ignore to add the most recent ones first.
- Adding the school name apart from the education section is a big “don’t” when you are preparing a resume. This must be added in the education section.
