After shedding a bit of fat during recession, restaurant chains in 2010 began rebuilding their teams, while casinos and other large sources of hospitality jobs activated campus recruiting of entry level managers. Only the budget hotels are still in the red.
High salaried hospitality jobs require good education, experience and excellent leadership skills. Do you have all the three things? This is the time for you to look for a high-paying job in the hospitality sector.
Take a look at the following high salaried jobs:
A casino property general manager job with a salary $218,300 may be yours if you have a four-year degree in business and hospitality. You should also have experience in a casino resort. You must know about food/beverage, hotel and entertainment management. Remember that there is no clear path to a general manager position; you may move over, go up or down, or make a lateral move.
During recession, regional chef jobs dried up. Laid off regional chefs took to managing single restaurants instead of supervising a group of restaurants. If you are a regional chef with $124,800 salary, you can aspire to be a corporate chef and get $ 175,000 and bonuses. For this, you must be able to set the menu, purchase food across the system, and train senior leadership and chefs on new menu items.
Hotel mangers get a salary of $ 112,400. You can land the job if you have experience in catering, front desk, housekeeping and management and a bachelor's degree.
The salary of a regional restaurant manager who moves among a group of restaurant locations hiring and coaching staff depends on the image of the chain. A fast food chain offers a base pay of $75,000 to $85,000. An upscale chain's offer may be $150,000. Middle level jobs in both areas are aplenty.
Many jobs are available in single restaurants. There is plenty scope if you are looking for an entry-level regional position that manages a group of restaurants. Higher positions are not many as yet.
Head of housekeeping gets a salary of $77,000. Hospitality jobs at the budget end of the market have not recovered yet from recession.
Pastry chef overseeing two to three cooks baking cakes, bread and pastries are in demand. Executive pastry chef who develops dessert menus for a restaurant chain gets the highest salary, say $ 60,200 while pastry chefs in hotels may get less; the salary ranges between $40,000 and $55,000.
The job of a sommelier is to share his wine knowledge with diners at high-end restaurants and sell wines. Sommeliers are expected to boost wine sales. They are paid anything between $40,000 and $50,000 in addition to a commission based on the wine revenue of a restaurant.
