You have received the job offer. That isn't the end. You have to decide whether to accept it or not. Is it the one you want? Finding a job is difficult and deciding on it is much more difficult. You are launching your career. The success of the launch depends on your correct decision. Otherwise, it will be a disastrous beginning.

Here are a few things you have to consider before accepting a job offer:

The decision: Don't accept or reject an offer on somebody's whims. Don't accept the offer because your parents want you to. You have to decide what you want and what you don't as you have to invest your time.

Salary and Perks: Many new job seekers have a vague idea of their need in terms of money they earn. It is important to see whether the offer is good both in terms of money and other benefits.

Duties: You must know whether the job is interesting for you. Does this job give you the opportunity to use your skills? As you will be spending your prime time on the job, you should be able to get satisfaction out of it.

Company Culture: Find out whether the work environs are congenial. Do the employees like each other and enjoy working together? Of course, you can't judge without actually working there. But you must have had a hint of its corporate culture during the interview. If your gut feeling warns of its work culture, you must be careful in taking a decision on the job offer.

Growth: Consider whether the job allows you to use your skills. Besides, see whether you can develop skills you don't have. Does this job give you any professional training so that you can acquire skills like a software program? Would you be exposed to international marketing practices? Does the job give you enough growth opportunities? You must get satisfying answers to all these questions. Then only you should take a plunge.

The boss: Your supervisor or the boss can make your job a wonderful experience or make it a miserable one. If you can have easy access to your boss and really learn something from him, it is fine. But if he is unapproachable, be cautious. You will be facing rough weather if you and your boss are on different levels.

Location: What are your likes? Do you like working in a big place and enjoy long commute every day? Do you want to be in a small place? You have to carefully consider this factor.

These are some of the many factors that make or mar your career. So it is always better to approach a campus career counselor. You must make an informed decision, lest you should be regretting.
