Do you think it is impossible to beat burnout by making your job more enjoyable? No, you aren't right. Just change the way you think; it's just an adjustment of attitude. However boring your job may be, you have to look for chances to laugh. Laughter helps you regain your energy when you are drained out. The more you laugh the better you enjoy what you are doing. You know, laughter suppresses stress-related hormones.

Mix with people as frequently as possible. Make ways to enjoy with your coworkers and family members. Feeling connected to people reduces stress and burnout.

Studies point out that people who have the fewest friendships and are not active at all are most likely to die prematurely. At least this revelation should make you more active and help you go out and have some fun. Learn how to make life meaningful.

You must have noticed that many conversations you heard are negative. Try to see the positive side of everything and ignore the negative aspects.

Here are some ideas you can incorporate into your life:
  • Fill your break room, if you have one, with toys and games. Coloring books reminds you of your childhood. A puzzle will take you away from a worrying problem. If you don’t have a break room, put some toys on your desk. You will be surprised to notice that many will stop at your desk to play with them or just appreciate them.

  • Put a bulletin board in the break room or employees lounge. Request everybody, right from the entry-level worker to the supervisor, to put pictures of babies they like on it. What an enjoyable fun it would be.

  • Create a stress-free zone where burned out employees can relax. It needn’t be necessarily a big hall. It can be a small passage where a rocking chair can be put. Drained out workmen can just sit in there, rock and get relaxed. Or you can put up a picture of the exuberant ocean that soothes the strained eyes.

  • Schedule activities you enjoy. Just keep a flower on your desk to look at it. Take a walk in lawn during the break. Go to a place you like most, even for five minutes.

  • If you enjoy window-shopping, go for it yourself or with a friend. Enjoy the evening in a spa or a café. What is important is to look forward to something to enjoy.
You can’t control everything, but you can what you can. You can easily beat burnout before it hits you.
