How to improve what we eat in office? Here are a few options in the world of heartburn and the pizza:
Pack your lunch
Health and nutrition experts say it is better you pack your lunch at home and bring it to office. That is how you can bring healthy food and eat it. Just 25 per cent of officer goers are brown baggers who bring their lunch. They believe that a brown bag is much better than a restaurant or a vending machine. Not only that, they can't be tempted to eat the birthday cake.
Your food plan should go much beyond a lunch that may include fruits, and vegetables but not excessive sugar and fat. You should love snacks with fiber, protein and carbs. Pocket pistachios that have all those healthy nutrients and it takes time to shell them - that time allows your craving to subside before you gulp them down.
Nutrition education
Know what is really nutritious. Cheesy crackers may be nutritionally less damaging than potato chips; still they are not healthy food. Many such foods we think are less harmful are not so.
Educate the management that controls vending machines and the cafeteria about the importance of providing nutritional food instead of the trash and unhealthy food that is offered to workers. Unfortunately, the eats that are tasty are not good for health. It won't be off the mark to say these eats make money for hospitals. Look at those catered executive lunches, stacks of meat sandwiches and over-the-top desserts. Do they bring any good to those executives? Tell them to change their food habits and take care of their health.
Women be more careful
More women die of cardiovascular diseases than men each year, according to health statistics. Office going women say they are more stressed than men. When we are stressed, we tend to eat more. That is the reason why women become emotional eaters. They can't keep themselves away from snacks and such other unhealthy eats. Women have special responsibilities and as such they should be careful about what and how they eat.
