The reason for this is that you don't leave work at office. Your cell phone remains busy. You don't stop sending emails to office. You don't forget office even in vacation and do all the work you would have done. In other words, vacation causes more stress instead of giving you relaxation. The stress spills over into other area of your life and creates health problems like impatience with family and friends.
Here are six tips offered by experts for taking a truly relaxing vacation.
Communicate
Before you go on leave document your responsibilities including the routine you attend to and give that paper to the person who would fill in for you.
Delegate
This tip is meant especially for managers whose vacation behavior tunes the entire group. Use the vacation as a means for giving an opportunity to subordinates to learn new skills by filling for you.
Plan your return
When you plan your holidays, do draw a plan for the first few days of your return. Schedule first few days for your boss and anyone who works with you. You must also plan how to catch up on the correspondence.
Unplug yourself
Just forget about office. Don't try to keep a tab on what is going on in the office in your absence. You should be an example to your subordinates.
Don't brag
Nobody is interested in what you do in your vacation. Remember that somebody in office is slogging through reports and correspondence while you are vacationing and they won't be interested in knowing how you were swimming in the sea. Just enjoy your vacation but don't show off what you have done while on vacation.
Set goals that work for you
Some are able to completely take off from work and others cannot do that because of their responsibilities or their company culture. But they can surely limit how often they check in.
