Create Boundaries for Your Physical Stress
Most of the house health workers are usually ill with joint, ligament, muscle, and tendon, along with other muscular or skeletal pains. This is common due to constant over-physical exertion and recurring motions. It’s best to avoid so much of stress on your body at work. You should take a few breaks within the monotonous and repetitive work. Always try to unwind the body avoid weight on the joints. For best safety, use the devices that assist you to minimize the weight. These devices include mechanical lifts, hand rails, etc.
Look for Hazards
Be careful of dangers when you enter the house of your client. You can fall, slip, or trip over things, which might result in injuries. Try to clean up by picking the toys along with the other objects from the stairs or floor. You need to close the opened cabinets or drawers. Keep an eye out for rough flooring, electrical cords, and wet bathrooms along with frozen sidewalks.
Stand Up Correctly
Lift with your legs instead of you back; be careful while standing up as not to strain you back. Always grasp a solid carriage, keep your back in a straight line and curve your knees. At the time of work, take necessary breaks to stretch your muscles. For saving your back, use equipments with long handle while cleaning, be cautious when you handle medical syringes since it might be infective, and always be prepared with comfortable shoes to be on your feet all day. Make sure you use waterproof gloves while handling chemicals. You should be vaccinated to save yourself from infective diseases such as chicken pox, hepatitis and influenza.
Defend Yourself
Any time you sense an unsafe environment inside of the house then its best to leave immediately. If someone has entered the house uninvited, then call the local police; make sure to always have your cell phone with you.
