A survey we commissioned came up with the ABC statistic. It represents the opinions of personnel directors and top executives nationwide.
Even worse, of the 25 percent of American men and women who will be fired at some point, 20 percent will not deserve to lose their jobs.
How can this happen? Here we are, a nation lock in mortal combat with foreign competitors who are literally buying us up, defeating us in the global marketplace and American men and women who don't deserve to lose their jobs will lose them. These are the same men and women who conceivably would have the answers to all competitive problems, yet they will be out of work through no fault of their own.
