Physical therapy is a treatment of disorders of the bones, joints and muscles with the help of physical agents such as light, water, heat, physical and electronic massage, and exercise.

A physical therapist treats common ailments such as arthritis, fractures, strokes and nerve damage .The kind of treatment needed is recommended by a physician and performed by trained physiotherapists. The therapist tries to avert pain and additional damage and also train different muscles to recompense for ones that have been injured.

Physical therapy is usually performed with medical treatment to allow a person to perform day to day activities normally.



In order to get a physical therapy job a physical therapist should graduate from a physical therapist educational school with a master's and doctoral degree. Curriculum includes biology, physics and chemistry, in addition to specialized courses like neuroanatomical, bio mechanics, human growth and development, disease manifestations, techniques of examination, and therapeutic practices.

Orthopedic therapy is one of the special fields in physical therapy. It deals with skeletal system and muscles disorders affecting joints. An orthopedic therapist's job is to work on these disorders with the mobilization and strength exercises, electrical stimulations and sometimes hot and cold packs.

Physical therapists usually need physical assistants or physical therapy technicians to help them treat patients. A physical therapy assistant or physical therapy technician's job is to assist giving exercise trainings. They also keep patient's treatment and recovery records.

Health care is a fast growing industry and with its growth there is a huge demand for the physical therapy jobs. Physical therapists can find jobs in various environments such as hospitals, clinics, small offices , rehab centers and nursing homes. As the health facilities are increasing they are improving the average age. Due to the enhancement of health the population of elder people is also increasing resulting in the increasing numbers of nursing homes which are in constant need of physical therapists.
