A law firm in New York City, NY, is seeking a Bankruptcy Litigation Associate Attorney to join its busy restructuring practice. The attorney will be involved in a mix of litigation and transactional work, including courtroom appearances, depositions, and motions practice. This role offers training opportunities with increasing responsibility, collaboration across practice groups and offices, and potential for career advancement. The ideal candidate should have significant courtroom experience, strong research and writing skills, and a minimum of 3 years of experience in bankruptcy, restructuring, creditors' rights, and insolvency-related litigation.

Duties:

  • Handle a mix of litigation and transactional work within the bankruptcy and restructuring practice.
  • Take depositions, argue motions, and represent clients in contested matters in the courtroom.
  • Participate in training opportunities with a focus on professional development.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across different practice groups and office locations.
  • Work in a small office environment while benefiting from the resources of an AmLaw 200 firm.
  • Engage in business development activities with the potential to progress toward partnership.

Requirements:

  • Significant courtroom experience in motions practice, contested matters, and/or adversary proceedings.
  • Experience in taking or materially assisting in the preparation of numerous depositions.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Previous experiences that prepare the attorney to work with diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Outstanding law school credentials and references.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in bankruptcy, restructuring, creditors' rights, and insolvency-related litigation in state and federal courts.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Bankruptcy Code, local rules, UCC, and secured transactions.
  • Proficiency in research, writing, courtroom advocacy, and transactional document drafting.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York Bar or eligibility for admission.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in bankruptcy, restructuring, creditors' rights, and insolvency-related litigation.
  • Strong courtroom advocacy and litigation skills.
  • Research and writing capabilities.
  • Collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Business development acumen for potential partnership track.
