Duties

• Manage litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Draft and respond to discovery, motions, and other legal pleadings.
• Conduct and defend depositions of parties and witnesses.
• Prepare clients and insureds for depositions and court proceedings.
• Appear in court for conferences, hearings, oral arguments, and other proceedings.
• Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations.
• Assist with or lead trial preparation, including second-chair or first-chair opportunities.
• Communicate effectively with clients, insurance carriers, and opposing counsel.
• Ensure timely reporting and compliance with firm procedures and client guidelines.

Requirements

• Litigation experience in personal injury, general liability, and/or insurance defense matters.
• Prior experience representing insurance carriers or working within an insurance defense firm.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active Admission to the New York State Bar.

Skills

• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage a caseload with increasing independence.
• Experience with court appearances, depositions, and motion practice.
• Familiarity with billing practices and adherence to client guidelines.
• Trial exposure (second-chair or first-chair experience welcomed).
• Professional judgment, strong work ethic, and attention to detail.
